The Biggest Little Farm Series is a 12-part docuseries and the follow up to the award-winning documentary, The Biggest Little Farm, which told more than a story about building a farm: it sparked a movement around regenerative farming, our relationship with the natural world, and what can happen when we choose to work with nature rather than against it.
John and Molly Chester are inviting audiences back for the next chapter in this feel-good, family-friendly sequel following John and Molly as they navigate the triumphs, setbacks and unpredictable realities of building a sustainable, thriving ecosystem where people, animals and nature thrive together.
Prior to farming, Molly Chester was a private chef in Los Angeles who specialized in healing the gut through nutrient-dense culinary techniques such as soaking, sprouting and fermenting. Molly believes that a delicious and healing dish is created in harmony with the rhythms of the local ecosystem.
“People often ask us what happened after the film ended. The truth is, nature never stopped challenging our sometimes embarrassing attempts to coexist with her,” said filmmaker John Chester. “Making The Biggest Little Farm Series gave us the chance to share those intense setbacks, but also the improbable moments of wonder that kept restoring our hope. I’ve come to believe that if more people understood the ways nature endures, adapts, and recovers, we might see a little less gloom and more possibility for the future. Thanks to our presenting sponsor, Artemis Rising Foundation, the series will stream free on YouTube to a global audience. It’s a big gamble to allow the imperfect version of ourselves to be exposed like this. Which is why I think families, young and old, regardless of their beliefs, might see themselves reflected. Is there reason for hope? I think folks who watch The Biggest Little Farm Series can judge for themselves. I promise where it leads no one could have expected.”
About The Biggest Little Farm Series:
The official sequel to the award-winning film. In the original film, John, Molly and their team along with critters big and small, transform a depleted farm into a thriving ecosystem. Eight years later, their grand experiment has become far more wild than anyone imagined.
The Biggest Little Farm Series takes us deeper into the lives of the creatures who breathe life into the land while challenging the future of the farm. The battle between predator and prey, farmer and pest, reminds us that Nature has its own way. To balance the chaos, there’s one question the stewards cannot escape: Can a farm become too feral for its own good?
To survive, they must decode the language of Nature, following the repeating patterns and clues left behind after each disaster. Their only hope for coexistence means letting go of more than they bargained for.
